You play the role of Gex, a tail-whipping Gecko with a sharp tongue and a snappy fashion sense. A devious cable junkie named Rez is taking over the globe's television channels, and it's up to you to save the planet from a world without - GASP - TV. Action heroes have had many noble causes in the past, but nothing could be more important than rescuing the world's television stations. Gex: Enter the Gecko features over 16 levels, and each one takes a satirical look at popular TV shows and movies. The "Smellraiser" level throws Gex into a world based on ridiculous horror flicks, where he must collect skulls and avoid rabid pumpkins. The gecko also finds himself in Kung Fu theaters, prehistoric lands, and smack dab in the middle of Saturday morning cartoons. You may think falling anvils are hilarious, but Gex would rather stay as far away from them as possible.
