IBM Token Ring MAU Ethernet Hub (8228-001)

IBM's 8228 Multistation Access Unit provides attachment for up to eight devices to a Token-Ring Local Area Network (LAN) operating at either 4 or 16Mbps accordingly. Using IBM Cabling System Connectors, cables from the attaching device are simply plugged into the unit. The Token-Ring Hub will detect the presence of a signal for each of the eight connections and will configure the ring. In addition, a Token-Ring Hub can be put in a wiring closet, on a desktop, on a wall, or in a standard 19-inch wiring closet and can be interconnected to other access units in order to form larger networks.
